Are you or your family about to welcome a new-born? Congratulations! This free course for parents, carers and extended family explores welcoming a new-born into the family unit the Montessori way. We will look at pregnancy through to bringing the baby home and beyond, plus we will cover welcoming a sibling into the family.

This free course for parents and extended family is designed to cover all aspects of bringing home a new-born. Whether you are a first time mum or a veteran grandad, this course explores how we can all contribute the Montessori way to welcome a new family member.

This course also includes a free global Montessori stories area where participants are encouraged to share their stories and experiences of adding another member to the family.

What You'll Learn

This course will cover: Pregnancy, breaking the news and preparation; Preparing the environment; Birth and welcoming the new-born/sibling home; First weeks, adjusting, getting support.


Requirements

There are no requirements to take this course, just an interest in parenting the Montessori way.

Laura Heap

Laura joined the MCI team in 2014 and is the e-learning Development Lead. She wrote this course while pregnant with her second child. In preparing to welcome her own new-born into the family, she utlised all the knowledge and stories of the Montessori staff around her at MCI. Putting it into a free package for other parents and family members, her aim is to create a space where the Montessori community, parents and families can share their experiences and learn from each other.

Jeremy Clarke

Jeremy joined the MCI academic team in 2013. He previously taught in Nursery and Reception age classes for 13 years and was at Gorton Mount Primary when it became the first state school in the UK to adopt the Montessori approach. At MCI he is the Leader of E-Learning and a tutor to distance learning students. He is also an assessor for MEAB. He received his BA (QTS) in Environmental Science and Outdoor Studies in Ambleside. He completed his Montessori Diploma at MCI. Jeremy will be online every week to respond to the discussion.
